Feel free to share this post...

My church, the Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church, is hosting a FREE traditional Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving Day – this Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015 – from 12 noon to 2 p.m.

Yes, it’s FREE! They’re not asking for a free will offering or anything. What a fantastic way to gather the community together and enjoy a delicious meal. They’ll have the Detroit Lions game on (thanks to our local telephone company, AcenTek) – and let’s hope the Lions do as well as they’ve been doing the past couple weeks!

Everyone is welcome. The church is located at 16426 Center Road (M37) on the Old Mission Peninsula, at the top of the hill before you get to the Old Mission Tavern. Call (231) 223-4393 to RSVP.

The Johnsons are gathering at my mom’s house, but we’ll be there in spirit. Sounds like a really fun time.

A NOTE FROM JANE: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper. Because the Gazette is mainly reader-supported, I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks my way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. Check out the donation page here. Thank you so much for your support. -jb
