Some people might think cemeteries are a little creepy and an odd place to hang out. For me, they’re comforting, especially the Ogdensburg Cemetery next to Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church on Center Road.
For one thing, I know just about everyone in this cemetery – including my Dad and Grandma – so it’s comforting to sort of hang out with them and mingle with their spirits, so to speak. And being a person of faith, I know they’re in a better place, which is also comforting.

And this little cemetery with its massive old trees and lovely gravestones is beautiful in itself.
After dropping my daughter off to work at Chateau Chantal, I turned north and took a little drive through the cemetery, where I snapped this picture with the Canon EOS Rebel T6i.
DJN your Great-great grandpa Benjamin Smith & Great uncle Julius there as well? Next time you visit there may be a new look to Grandma Stella Johnson’s memorial stone. One of the items on Dad’s bucket list was to clarify her relationship to the man she’s buried next to. Bob Wilkinson helped with making it come to fruition.
Yes – the ancestors! Will look after church on Sunday, and check Grandma’s stone, too. Thanks for the heads up.
