Here’s the end result of yesterday’s pie-baking adventure. The apple turned out terrific! The pumpkin needed more sugar. But it’s all good. We had a great family gathering, and that’s what’s important.
Those lovely hands are those of my niece, Heatherlyn Johnson Reamer, a.k.a. Pie-Cutter Extraordinaire. Also pictured are the pecan pies baked by my amazing sister-in-law Carol Johnson (Ward’s wife), who not only makes the best pies ever, but is also a skilled cook.
