Saw “Brooklyn” at the Bijou by the Bay tonight. It’s a lovely film starring Saoirse Ronan as an Irish immigrant who lands in Brooklyn, New York during the 1950s.
With a screenplay by Nick Hornby – an English novelist whose books “About a Boy,” “High Fidelity” and others have been adapted to the big screen – and directing by John Crowley, “Brooklyn” is a beautiful film about what it means to leave home and establish yourself somewhere else. Highly recommended.
Of course, the Bijou is always an amazing place to see a movie, and I love that it used to be the Con Foster Museum.
