My friend, neighbor and church compadre Donna Tuttle sent along this photo of a plant by their house. It’s the coolest thing. A flower that blooms in the winter. In the snow.

According to the perennial’s wikipedia page, the frost-resistant Hellebore is also known as “winter rose,” “Christmas rose” and “Lenten rose.” And how hopeful to see something flowering in the snow in January in northern Michigan. Like maybe Spring isn’t too far away.
