The steering committee of the Old Mission Community Group has had some indication that TCAPS will be seriously considering other options at their next few committee meetings, alternatives to closing Interlochen and Old Mission. If you’re able, please consider attending any or all of the following meetings:

TCAPS COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE MEETING – Tuesday, February 2 at 7:30 a.m. at the Ida Tompkins Building on Boardman Avenue.

Old Mission Gazette is Reader Supported.

JOINT FINANCE MEETING OF TCAPS & TBAISD (THE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DISTRICT) – Tuesday, February 2 at 3 p.m. at the TBAISD Administration Center at 1101 Red Drive. Discussion topic is the fund balance at the ISD and TCAPS’ request for those funds to be distributed to member school districts.

TCAPS FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING –  Wednesday, February 3 at 9 a.m. at the Ida Tompkins Building on Boardman.

Also, if you live or work on the Old Mission Peninsula, or send your kids to school at the Old Mission Peninsula School, please fill out this survey.

The survey closes on Friday and will provide critical data to our community task force. “I am hopeful after several meetings with school board members and others in our larger community,” says Vicki Shurly, director of the Peninsula Community Library. “We have been assured that TCAPS is seriously committed to looking at other ideas at committee meetings Tuesday and Wednesday.”

A NOTE FROM JANE: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers like the New York Times and Los Angeles Times, and magazines like Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So of course, I started my own newspaper. Because the Gazette is mainly reader-supported, I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks my way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the Old Mission Peninsula. Check out the donation page here. Thank you so much for your support. -jb
