Sparky’s Diner is Traverse City’s best-kept secret (until I post this, that is). Low prices, great service, and a fun decor of vintage records on the walls make this place a winner. There’s a cool vintage jukebox, too.

It’s located at 1462 South Airport Road in Traverse City (near the corner of S. Airport and Barlow), and the owner is Brent Bartz, who told me he worked at Don’s Drive-In for 35 years before opening Sparky’s Diner eight years ago.

Brent also buys and sells records under the name “Vinyl Rules.” Call him at (231) 946-2668 or email [email protected].

He was reluctant about getting his photo taken, but I told him I’d spread the word about the diner and record business. So if you go in there, tell him you heard about his fantastic diner on Old Mission Gazette!
