The Peninsula Fire Department didn’t have far to go when they battled a brush fire just across the road from Fire Station #1 in Mapleton this afternoon. No cause was known for the fire at the time this story was published.
According to the Michigan DNR, the Daily Fire Danger Rating was noted as “very high” for this area today, so even a cigarette butt out the window of a car could be a culprit. Stay safe out there!
