Feel free to share this post...

Tuesday evenings at Oryana Food Co-op are fun! Well, EVERY evening at the co-op is fun, but especially with their new Patio Picnic Concerts every Tuesday evenings, 5:30 – 7 p.m. through July and August.

The concerts are totally free, plus you get complimentary lemonade. What could be better on a summer evening in Traverse City?

I’m not sure who this duo is, so if you know, tell us in the comments section below. They’re really great. Here’s the upcoming schedule:

July 26: Little Omena – Maggie and Jimmy have been traveling the nation and are BACK! Bringing the sweet sounds of their singer-songwriter talents to the Co-op. While not making music, you’ll find them teaching circus arts, acro-yoga or maybe just swimming in Lake Michigan.

August 2: Celtic Harp Guild – Long time community member and music-healer Marilyn Wares is hosting a group of harpists playing modal music on our Patio space. Modal music operates outside of the normal Western style of music, it’s heavily based on improvisation and used for music therapy. Very peaceful and chill.

August 9: Nik Carman – Nik is a 10-year-old bluegrass player and multi-instrumentalist from Suttons Bay. Named one of the 20 most fascinating people by Northern Express. Please come and enjoy this style of music and Nik’s skill in performing.

August 16: Adam Waugh – Child of the Great Lakes, Adam Waugh grew up absorbing the sounds of Motown and the blues. He has traveled and lived extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America. Adam is continually inspired by immersing himself in and absorbing the culture, lifestyles, and music of the diverse areas through which he travels and lives. He is a musical expeditionary, always exploring new sounds, music, culture, and locations, and the means with which to record and share these findings along the way. His music is a rich blend of Indie, Folk, Americana, Blues, Jazz, and Gypsy, infused with intrepid vocals, emotion, and Soul. Like the traveling bards of old, Adam circumnavigates the globe sharing his stories, music, and experiences with all that will listen. Sharing an awakened perspective with the culture, passions, environment, and music within which his life unfolds.

August 23 – TBA

August 30: Awesome Distraction – Awesome Distraction has been together for about 5 years. Originally formed in 2011 by Nick Veine (20) and Kyle Garber (19) from Manistee, they have continued to impress audiences with their harmonies and musicianship. Their manly figures and macho voices are complimented nicely by the sweet songwriting and beautifully blended voices. They truly make up an Awesome Distraction. Recently they have brought in a young powerful singer named Chloe Pepera also from Manistee. While she is only 16 years old, her voice brings people to their knees.

September 6: E-Minor – With sweet and smokey melodies, E Minor has an unmistakable folk flavor, with a hint of an old jazz and blues influence. Elizabeth has been part of Oryana both as staff and a familiar face seen buying groceries. Join her on the Patio for our last night of music this season.
