UPDATE: A resident of Shipman Road is fixing up a cottage on his property and is using the area at the end of the road to dump the construction waste. The neighbors are assured it’s temporary and are giving him some time to handle the problem. For more info, see the comments at the bottom of this post.

The owner of what used to be Thelma Crawford’s place is fixing up one of the cottages. It is raised above the ground. The old foundation was removed and a new one will be put in place. What you are seeing is the old foundation and chimney on the back of his property. We are assured that it is temporary and will be removed. The owner does much of the refurbishing himself and sometimes it takes awhile.
Someone is dumping construction waste at the end of Shipman Road. Anyone got a clue as to who it might be?
Let’s see, there appears to be a brick chimney in there, and the cement blocks might be part of a foundation. And based on the tire marks, maybe it was a tractor…?
I wonder if it’s the same person who dumped old carpet on a Lighthouse trail last year…
I must admit, I’ve been eyeing all the construction sites on the Peninsula lately.

I’m confused why the owner can’t keep their construction debris on their own property? I’m fixing up my house too but I don’t store my trash on the road right-of-way.
Sorry, my post must be unclear. It is his property. The road dead ends there. It is a private road and the “right-of-way” is….um…muddled at this point. I don’t condone his decision to do this. Neighbors are unhappy, but we will give him some time to handle the problem.
Thanks for the intel, Nancy. Will update the post. On a related note, nice that someone is taking good care of Thelma’s place. Love that place. -jb
