As these are important positions for influential governing bodies that will affect the new Township Board and the entire community, residents are encouraged to attend the meeting and voice any concerns about the candidates or decisions.
The Planning Commission is the first body to review requests for new project approvals from developers. Requirements of planning commissioners include a strong commitment to the Master Plan; experience with legal requirements and ordinances; the ability to listen and receive input from Peninsula Township residents; and the ability and time to study the Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance, as well as attend meetings ready to discuss and vote on developments and issues that affect the community.
The Zoning Board of Appeals is charged with ensuring that new projects meet the requirements of the Peninsula Township Zoning Ordinance. As with the Planning Commission, ZBA members should be dedicated to enforcing the Zoning Ordinance in support of the Master Plan.
