Photo of the Day: Sept. 2, 2016 – Chippy the Chipmunk

Feel free to share this post...

Here he is. Chippy the Chipmunk, stocking up for the winter. As is usually the case around here, there’s a giant hole in the ground somewhere filled with birdseed.

It’s ok, though. I’m doing my part to help the wildlife survive the long winter ahead, which according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, will be colder than usual for our neck o’ the woods. Here’s what they say for the Traverse City zip code:

Winter will be colder than normal, with the coldest periods in mid-December, through most of January, and in early and late February. Precipitation will be a bit above normal in the east and below normal in the west, with snowfall above normal from Minneapolis eastward and below normal in the west. The snowiest periods will be in early to mid- and mid- to late December, mid-January, and early to mid- and late February.

So basically, it’s going to be cold and snowy.
