“That’s what I did when I was downstate,” said Reardon, “so I’m pretty excited to get back to it.”

No word yet on who will be taking Reardon’s position with Peninsula Township, but watch Old Mission Gazette for updates and news.

“I’ve let the Town Board know that I don’t want to leave them in the lurch, so I’m sure we’ll be having more discussions,” said Reardon.

Along with the incoming Peninsula Township Treasurer and Trustees, other changes that have occurred in the leadership of Peninsula Township include the death of supervisor Pete Correia, the appointment of incoming supervisor Rob Manigold, and the resignation of Township Clerk Monica Hoffman.

Here is the transcript of Reardon’s resignation letter.

Peninsula Township Board
13235 Center Rd.
Traverse City, MI 49686

Dear Board Members,

Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation from my position as Director of Planning & Zoning. My last day of employment will be September 15, 2016.

I received an offer from another agency, and after careful consideration, I realize that this opportunity is too exciting for me to decline.

It has been a pleasure working with you and the community over the last three years. I would like to help with the transition of my duties so that the department continues to function smoothly after my departure. I am available to help recruit my replacement, and I will make certain that all files are complete before my last day of work.

Thank you again for the opportunity to work for Peninsula Township. I wish you and your staff all the best, and I look forward to staying  in touch with you. You can email me anytime at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Michelle L. Reardon

SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.

Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette
