I love it when a plan comes together, and that’s just what happened with the Pelizzari Natural Area.
Owned previously by Gene and Maxine Pelizzari (their daughter Ann was a good friend of mine and in the same class in school; sometime I’ll write about the fun we had ice-skating in front of their house on East Shore Road), the Pelizzari Natural Area is a cooperative effort of Peninsula Township Park Commission and the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. It’s a great example of what can be accomplished when people and groups work together. Read more here.

And, of course, it’s a fantastic place to hike (head out Center Road from town, and it’s on the right before you get to Mathison Road). I was out there the other day, and said Hi to lots of hikers, including this beautiful pup named Marley.
Thanks for being our Photo of the Day, Marley! (And thank you to the humans you were with, Heather and Linda, for letting me take Marley’s photo.)
