There used to be a lot of these vintage boathouses on the Old Mission Peninsula. This one at Neahtawanta is one of the few remaining – if not the only one (I can’t think of any others right off the bat). Pretty, isn’t it?

Our cottage in next door to this. You used to be able to pull a boat right in to this boathouse while still under power, the owners dredged out to the blue. The “channel” remains, even though there hasn’t been any dredging in at least 40 years.
Well, it sure is pretty. And wasn’t there another boathouse farther down the beach towards Bowers Harbor? -jb
Yes, that one was enormous. There are still piers under water. Here’s a drawing of it that my Great Aunt did. The ice claimed it in the 70s.
