Mary Morgan reports that the program for this week’s Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society (OMPHS) will feature Sheri DeCew, a well-known Michigan buttoneer.

The meeting will take place Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Peninsula Township Hall, 13235 Center Road on the Old Mission Peninsula.

During the program, “If Only Buttons Could Talk,” DeCew will point out clues that buttons on clothing offer to historical researchers, and also connect some of her program to our local history. The program is free and open to the public. Non-members are encouraged to make a donation to the ongoing historical preservation projects of the historical society.

If you haven’t attended one of the OMPHS Programs, this Thursday’s presentation would be a great one to start with. Plan on attending for an interesting discussion. Socialize with your neighbors and learn how OMPHS members preserve the history and structures of Old Mission Peninsula.

For further information, contact OMPHS President Barb Berthelsen, [email protected], or call Judy Weaver, (231) 947-0947.
