We took a drive around the neighborhood today and ended up on the beach at the west end of Swaney Road. So, if you drive all the way out Peninsula Drive – I mean, ALL the way until the road ends – and then turn left on Swaney Road, that’s where this beach is – on West Bay.
I believe it’s a public access beach, but could be wrong on that. Someone clue me in. Either way, I’m sure I’ll get in trouble from all the Whispering Trail people.
Anyhoo, I love this mid-winter beach-scape, with those thin icebergs forming along the shore. When I was a kid growing up on East Bay in Old Mission, we used to love climbing on the icebergs and pushing ourselves around with a big stick. And the water was not all that shallow in front of our house – how did we ever survive?
