The Library Board of Peninsula Community Library (PCL) is inviting everyone to a “Build the Team” event, which will take place Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at the library, 2699 Island View Road on the Old Mission Peninsula.

The library, which has been housed in the Old Mission Peninsula School since the school was built in the 1950s, is in the process of raising funds and building a team to help facilitate the construction of their own building on land they own at the corner of Island View Road and Center Road.

Old Mission Gazette is Reader Supported.

Thursday’s meeting will be led by the professional fundraising team of Zrimec & Wick. Cornwell Architects, who have been engaged by the Library Board to design a library that fits the rural aesthetic of our community, will be there, as well.

Anyone interested in learning more and getting involved with the process, put this important meeting on your calendar.

And don’t forget…

Books @ The Boathouse – Tickets are available now at PCL for the event of the season, March 14 at 6 p.m. The evening will feature appetizers, wine, dinner, dessert and Irish music. See the big reveal of the architectural rendering of the new library. A silent auction will also kick off. Tickets are $150 per person ($100 tax deductible) with funds going to PCL’s Building Fund. Can’t come? Buy a ticket and donate it to the library. They will make sure it goes to someone who cannot otherwise attend.

A NOTE FROM JANE: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper. Because the Gazette is mainly reader-supported, I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks my way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. Check out the donation page here. Thank you so much for your support. -jb
