Photo of the Day: May 2, 2017 – Spring Farm Work

7

Today’s Photo of the Day is my brother-in-law, Terry Boursaw, on a forklift at Johnson Farms’ cooling pad as he pours fertilizer into the spreader, then heads out to fertilize my brother Ward’s apple orchards.

Spring is a busy time for Old Mission Peninsula farmers, cleaning up the orchards, fertilizing, mowing, discing, planting and prepping for the upcoming harvest season.

Most of the farmers I know tend to panic a little when they realize cherry season is a mere two months away. But one way or another, it comes and goes and everyone gets through it.
