My friend Nancy Davy posted this photo of a tree toad on her window the other night, and I was immediately fascinated and smitten! It looks like a cartoon character.
Nancy asked if I’d ever seen a tree toad on the Peninsula, and in all my years (56 and counting), I couldn’t remember ever seeing one.

Growing up in Old Mission, we used to see those bumpy brown land-dwelling toads all the time. They loved to blend in with my mom’s flower bed along our front walk, and some of them were pretty big.
