There’s always a splendid array of blooms at Old Mission Flowers (one of Old Mission Gazette’s trusted advertisers), and each day brings colorful new flowers. Basically, you can’t go wrong ANY time you stop by there.

Right now, owner Ginny (Dohm) Coulter says the gladiolus are popping, as well as the oriental lilies, the statice, false sunflowers, and zinnias.

I mentioned to her once that the flowers are so pretty, I almost hated to cut them! But she said it’s actually GOOD for the plant to cut the flowers, so don’t be afraid to lop those blooms off and make yourself a beautiful bouquet.
I’ve mentioned before that stopping by Old Mission Flowers just makes you feel good – like all is right with the world when you see those colorful blooms spilling across the land like happy children at play. And it’s so peaceful there.
Of course, my photographer buddies and I love to wander among the flowers and shoot photos. I especially love going by there as the sun is setting low over West Bay. You can see the bay from the flower garden, and every photo at that hour of day with that stunning light is gorgeous.
Old Mission Flowers is located at 16550 Center Road, on the corner of Ladd Road and Center Road, just past Old Mission United Methodist Church on the right. A NOTE FROM JANE: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers like the New York Times and Los Angeles Times, and magazines like Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So of course, I started my own newspaper. Because the Gazette is mainly reader-supported, I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks my way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the Old Mission Peninsula. Check out the donation page here. Thank you so much for your support. -jb
