We all know that we’re never lacking for great photo subjects on the Old Mission Peninsula. Often times, that can just be a road, like Island View Road or Smokey Hollow Road. All of our roads are picturesque in their own way, including today’s Photo of the Day, Gray Road.
My husband Tim used to say that our Gray Road reminds him of the roads in the Caribbean Islands, where he spent winters back in the day. The way it curves and winds down the hill, with lush foliage on each side of the road.
I spent a few weeks in the islands with him in the early 1980s, and I concur that there are similarities, especially after lots of rain, like we’ve had this week. These are the times when we have our very own tropical jungle, right here in northern Michigan.
