It’s that time of year when the vineyards on the Old Mission Peninsula get to put on their grape sweaters. Or as I mentioned last year, lovely wedding gowns.

As noted in the video below from Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery (also where the above photo was taken), the netting helps to keep the critters from feasting on the lovely grapes.

It’s quite the process to watch, as the workers cover the grapes with their cozy sweater nets. A machine is driven down each row between the grapes, as the netting is gently draped over the grapes.

Check out the video from Brys Estate, located on Blue Water Road between Center Road and Bluff Road. And thanks to Maura Sanders for alerting me to this video last year!

We need your support...

At a time when newspapers across the country are dying in droves, small community newspapers like Old Mission Gazette are the wave of the future. Owners Tim and Jane Boursaw are devoted to the Old Mission Peninsula community, and our editorial independence means we set our own agenda and voice our own opinions. But we need your ongoing support to keep delivering Old Mission Peninsula news, history, photos and more. We rely on generous reader support to keep doing what we do, and every contribution, big or small, is valuable. Click HERE to support Old Mission Gazette. Thank you!
