I recently acquired these photos from the Way Back Machine featuring some Old Mission Peninsula School cheerleaders. I thought it’d be fun to see if you know who they are. It’ll probably help if you were around or attended OMPS when the photo was taken.
I’ll give you a day or two to see if anyone knows, and then will post the names at the bottom of this story. Hint: These photos were taken in the 1960s. (In the gym – you can see the now-gone stage and stage curtain behind them.)
Old Mission Gazette is Reader Supported.

UPDATE: See cheerleaders’ names at the bottom of this story.
Also, here’s another quiz: There were two OMPS cheers (that Tim and I can remember). Do you know what they are?
Hint: One started “We are the Panthers…” and the other started “We wear a P for our Peninsula…”

SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.
Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette

One of them is Letty Grishaw. And another might be Beth Rasmussen.
We wear a P for our Peninsula,
We wear an A for fine athletes,
We wear an N for our nobility
We wear a T for teamwork too…for teamwork, too
We wear an H for our humanity
We wear an E for extra good
We wear an R and an S for real good sportsmanship
And that spells PANTHERS too!
We ar the Panthers, the mighty, mighty Panthers!!
I’m thinking that isn’t entirely right but funny how some of it comes back! After all these years!
Ahhhhh!!!! Thank you for filling in the blanks on that cheer, Marsha! Tim and I had the first few lines but couldn’t remember the rest.
Stand by for the cheerleader reveal. 🙂
Sherie, Lettie, Vickie and ?
We are the Panthers the mighty mighty Panthers….right? Can’t wait to hear who the cheerleaders are!
I’m thinking Sherry Boursaw is one of the cheerleaders, right?
How about: We are the Panthers
The mighty, mighty, Panthers.
Everywhere we go, people wanna know, who we are, so we tell them….. 🙂
Thank you, Marge! That’s the main cheer that I remember. And yes – one of the cheerleaders is Sherie. 🙂
Graduated from OMPS 1963. Mrs. Warren made our uniforms. Jan Jamieson, Mary Jo Solmonson, Terry Lynn McManus, Jeannie Feiker, me. “…who are the Panthers? We are, we are, we are the best, Old Mission Panthers, yes, yes yes!”
I hadn’t heard that cheer! So you were a cheerleader, Cuz! 🙂
Yep. Perhaps the 1st bunch? So we shouted out the beginning lines posted by Marge, finishing as I posted.
Before my time.
I’ll come up with some pics from our era.
[…] Front row, left to right: Cheerleaders Patsy Greg, Cindy Carroll, Cindy Peckham (check out some other OMPS cheerleaders here) […]
