We all look forward to the annual Christmas cookie sale hosted by the Old Mission Women’s Club, and it’s coming right up!

Club member Penny Pauley reports that the cookie sale will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, 8 a.m. to noon, at Peninsula Township Fire Station #2, 8150 Center Road on the Old Mission Peninsula (the station a couple miles out from town).

You won’t find a wider assortment of cookies anywhere, and it’s a great time to stock up for all your holiday parties, gatherings and events. In addition to festive cookies, you’ll find tasty breads, candies, truffles, dog treats and other goodies at the cookie sale.

The cookies are sold by the pound at $8 per pound, and all proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations.

Be sure and get there early, because the cookies often sell out before noon! These ladies have been baking cookies year after year, and folks come from near and far to stock up on their delicious cookies.

SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.

Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette
