This massive Snowy Owl has been hanging out on a utility pole on Blue Water Road fairly regularly since I first spotted him a few weeks back. I don’t know if it’s the same one as up by Chateau Grand Traverse, but from what I’ve heard, there are quite a few on the Old Mission Peninsula this winter.
I always scan the utility poles now, and can usually see this one from a ways away – a little blob of something from far away that turns out to be a magnificent bird as you get closer. I took this photo on my way to church this morning.
Thank you, Snowy Owl, for giving us a distraction from this neverending winter!
