There is a lot happening on the Old Mission Peninsula this weekend. Along with Blessing of the Blossoms and Blossom Day, a memorial gathering for Josh Wunsch, the JAM and Kids ROCK bake sale, and the Old Mission Women’s Club annual barn sale, the OMP United Methodist Church is having a massive treasure sale.
The folks who organized this put a LOT of work into gathering and pricing items, as well as hauling everything to the church and setting up the sale. There are lots of treasures to be found, including household goods, clothes, toys, books, a washer and dryer, refrigerator, sports items, picnic tables and much, much more!
Old Mission Gazette is Reader Supported.

I’ll also add that this sale includes my entire movie and TV screener collection as an entertainment writer for the past 20-some years. So that’s 20+ years’ worth of TV shows and movies that publicists have sent to me over the years looking for reviews. Some are individual episodes, some are full seasons of shows, for both kids and grownups. Most are advance screeners in not-fancy packaging, but some include neat goodies like hardcover books of the shows and movies, cool “press kits” and more.
The treasure sale runs two days:
- Friday, May 18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Saturday, May 19, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church is located at 16426 Center Road on the Old Mission Peninsula, about a half-mile south of Old Mission Tavern.
Here’s a sampling of items in the sale…
SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.
Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette
