The sale will take place on Friday, Sept. 7, and Saturday, Sept. 8, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Dougherty House, 18459 Mission Road on the Old Mission Peninsula.
The event will feature a wide assortment of excess and donated antiques, primitives and collectibles from the historic Peter Dougherty House, built in the 1840s and lovingly restored by volunteers over many years. Many of these items are being sold because they do not fit the time period for the Dougherty House setting or because they’re duplicates.
The sale also includes some very unique items. Susan Feiger, longtime OMP resident and owner of Old Barn Antiques with her husband Walt, is helping to organize and price the sale items.
“Getting ready for the sale, I was sifting through some old tarnished silverware,” she said. “I was surprised and shocked to find an extremely early handmade solid silver serving spoon!”
Susan said the maker’s mark on the back indicates that it was made somewhere between 1787 and 1823. “It has engraved initials of “M F” on the tip of the handle, and it’s known as ‘Coin Silver,'” she said.
