Have you ever wanted to sit in a fire truck? Spray water with a fire hose? Here’s your chance! Kids and grownups of all ages are invited to an Open House at Fire Station 2 on Saturday, Sept. 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hosted by the Peninsula Fire Department, this fun event for the whole family will include a BBQ, activities for all ages, tours and safety tips. You’ll also get to meet your Old Mission Peninsula firefighters and Fire Chief Fred Gilstorff.

Learn about Peninsula Fire Department’s efforts to get Advanced Life Support (ALS) on the Old Mission Peninsula, as well as how new staffing at Fire Station 2 is helping to decrease response times and increase safety with more responders to each call.
The Michigan Blood bus will also be on hand for blood donations. Give a pint of blood and receive a pint of Culver’s custard! The Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Department will have some of their officers and a K-9 unit on site, as well.
Fire Station 2 is located at 8150 Center Road on the Old Mission Peninsula (the station in towards town).
