We’d never seen a Sandhill Crane before this year, and now suddenly they seem to be everywhere. Maybe we’re just in the right place at the right time, but whatever the reason, it’s always a good thing when you see Sandhill Cranes.
After church on Sunday, I wandered down to Old Mission and spotted these two Sandhill Cranes in the orchard off Brinkman Road. It’s a popular hangout for geese, but I’d never seen cranes there before, although I’ve heard about sightings from some of the Old Mission villagers.

We also spotted some Sandhill Cranes near Kingsley when we stopped out to the Red Dresser Barn Market in June.
