The Nov. 6, 2018 State General Election is right around the corner. As noted here, Peninsula Township Precinct 2 voters now have a new voting location – First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road. Precinct 1 voters will remain at the same location, Peninsula Township Hall, 13235 Center Road.
Sample ballots are available by clicking here, entering your information and clicking “search.” I’ve included a Sample Ballot for Precinct 1 at the bottom of this story (Precinct 1 because that’s the ballot I have access to through the State of Michigan ballot site).

Here are the proposals as noted on the Precinct 1 ballot. More information can be found by using the link above to view your sample ballot.
State Proposals
18-1 A proposed initiated law to authorize and legalize possession, use and cultivation of marijuana products by individuals who are at least 21 years of age and older, and commercial sales of marijuana through state-licensed retailers.
18-2 A proposed constitutional amendment to establish a commission of citizens with exclusive authority to adopt district boundaries for the Michigan Senate, Michigan House of Representatives and U.S. Congress, every 10 years.
18-3 A proposal to authorize automatic and Election Day voter registration, no-reason absentee voting, and straight ticket voting; and add current legal requirements for military and overseas voting and post-election audits to the Michigan Constitution.
Township Proposals
Dissolution of Park Commission Proposal. Shall the Peninsula Township Park Commission be dissolved pursuant to MCL 41.426g thereby transferring all powers and duties and all assets and liabilities of the Peninsula Township Park Commission to the Peninsula Township Board of Trustees?
Voter Identification Requirements
Effective with the November 6, 2007 election, picture identification is required. Voters can satisfy this picture identification requirement by showing a Michigan driver’s license or a Michigan personal identification card. Voters who do not possess either document may show any of the following forms of picture identification as long as they are current.
- Driver’s license or personal identification card issued by another state.
- Federal or state government-issued photo identification.
- U.S. passport
- Military identification card with photo
- Student identification with photo-from a high school or an accredited institution of higher education.
- Tribal identification card with photo.
