The Dougherty House is getting ready for prime time! A devoted group of volunteers have spent many years restoring the historic home once inhabited by Peter Dougherty, and public tours of the home and buildings will begin in June (yes, next month!).
The official opening and dedication of the Dougherty House will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2019, 2 p.m., at 18459 Mission Road on the Old Mission Peninsula. The guest speaker will be Dr. Mary Ann Heidemann, historian and author.

Volunteer to be a Dougherty House Docent!
The Peter Dougherty Society, the group behind the restoration, is looking for docents for the tours, which will run four days a week, June through October.
This is a great way to be learn more about the history of Old Mission, meet new people, and help spread the good works of the Peter Dougherty Society, who’ve created a significant historical, educational and cultural center focusing on the occupants and activities surrounding the home from 1842 to 1910.
Retired folks, year-round residents, summer residents, teenagers needing volunteer time … all are welcome to be docents, and you don’t even need to know anything about the house. Training is available.
If you’d like to be a docent or learn more about this fun opportunity, email [email protected] or call Connie Sargent at (231) 223-8866.
