Construction on the new Peninsula Community Library is well underway on the corner of Island View Road and Center Road. And as we reported, they recently reached their capital campaign fundraising goal of $2.5 million. But that doesn’t mean they’re done fundraising! They’re still seeking funds for interior furniture, a children’s garden and more.
That’s where “Wine Down With Chocolate and a Silent Auction” comes in. This fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 7 to 9 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12675 Center Road on the Old Mission Peninsula.
Old Mission Gazette is Reader Supported.

Tickets are available for $30/each at Peninsula Community Library, at the door that night, or you can get them from me! I’m tasked with selling four tickets to the event, and I’ll even deliver them to your house. The fundraiser includes a sampling of wine and chocolate delicacies, as well as a silent auction, which will begin prior to the event, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the church. Select “take it now” items will be available.
A wide array of silent auction items are available, including an aerial tour, cooking lessons, spa packages, gift certificates from local businesses, tickets to the 2019 Traverse City Film Festival, an assortment of OMP items from our online store, the Old Mission Peninsula Store and more.
Feel free to contact the library with any questions, (231) 223-7700.
A NOTE FROM JANE: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers like the New York Times and Los Angeles Times, and magazines like Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So of course, I started my own newspaper. Because the Gazette is mainly reader-supported, I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks my way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the Old Mission Peninsula. Check out the donation page here. Thank you so much for your support. -jb
