Wine Down With Chocolate & Silent Auction, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12675 Center Road. This fundraiser for Peninsula Community Library includes samplings of wine and chocolates, along with a silent auction (including items from our OMPstore.com). Tickets are $30 at PCL or at the door (or from me! I’ll even drop them at your house). Event is 7 – 9 p.m.; silent auction preview, 1 – 4 p.m. More info here.

Blessing of the Blossoms, Chateau Chantal, 15900 Rue de Vin, May 20, 12:30 p.m. Pastor Melody Olin from OMP United Methodist Church will officiate the annual ceremony, which is free of charge to everyone. (I’ll also be there with my trusty violin). More info here.

Jolly Pumpkin Run, Mission Point Lighthouse Trails. This 5K race will take place on the lighthouse trails, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 11:30 a.m. Onsite registration opens at 8 a.m. More info here. (Note to runners: There are a LOT of roots and stumps sticking up on that trail, so safe travels!).

A NOTE FROM JANE: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper. Because the Gazette is mainly reader-supported, I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks my way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. Check out the donation page here. Thank you so much for your support. -jb
