Today’s Photo of the Day is courtesy of this regal Cooper’s Hawk on Center Road. Spotted him on my way home from town yesterday, on the right side of Carpenter Hill, likely looking for dinner in the vineyard that used to be the old Hicks farm.

At least, I’m pretty sure he’s a Cooper’s Hawk because he looks a lot like this photo and the photo I posted here. Not sure about this one – he looks a little different.

  1. Jane, this is an immature Red-tailed Hawk, a Cooper’s Hawk would have a much longer tail, the banding on the tail would be broader and the streaking on the breast would be finer.
