The other day, I posted a photo of a hawk on Center Road in the vineyards on the first big hill coming out of town, a.k.a. Carpenter Hill. I originally ID’d it as a Cooper’s Hawk, but then my friend Kim Ciesla thought maybe it was a Red-Tailed Hawk, and I think she’s right.
Hawk identification is an ongoing thing here on the Gazette. Here’s a post from two years ago with the same question. We decided that was a Red-Tailed Hawk (originally ID’d by me as a Cooper’s Hawk).

Today’s Photo of the Day is another Red-Tailed Hawk (I think), spotted on Blue Water Road yesterday – east of Nancy Heller’s house and west of Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery. It appeared to be looking for dinner in the vineyards (just like the one on Carpenter Hill).
Feel free to weigh in on the hawk talk in the comments below! Let us know if you think this is a Red-Tailed Hawk or something else. Here are a few more pics of the Blue Water Road hawk.
