I always jump at the chance to hang out with OMPeople, so when Julia Bloxsom Phelps invited me to come take photos at last year’s “Boots & Bling” Fundraiser for Old Mission Peninsula School (OMPS), I was all over that. It was a blast, and this year’s “Boots & Bling” on Nov. 9 promises to be just as much fun.
The Drew Hale Band will once again be playing (they’re fantastic), and dinner is included in the price of the ticket. A cash bar will be available for folks 21 and older, featuring Shorts Beer, local wine and the spectacular Old Mission Mule cocktail.
Old Mission Gazette is Reader Supported.

The event also includes a silent auction, with plenty of items donated by local residents (possibly including some of my OMP photos).
The doors open at 5:30 p.m., and line dancing with Wild Iris Productions (aka Sue Gresens – super fun) starts at 6 p.m.
The fundraiser will be held on Nov. 9, 2019, 5:30 – 10 p.m. at Bewitched Farm, 12655 Center Road on the Old Mission Peninsula (just north of the new Peninsula Community Library on the corner of Center Road and Island View Road).
Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door, and may be purchased in the OMPS office or in the school lobby on Friday, 3 – 4 p.m. All proceeds go towards Old Mission Peninsula School.
The school is located at 2699 Island View Road, and the phone number is (231) 252-0225. You can also email Julia at [email protected] for more info.
Click through below and check out some photos from last year. I guarantee you’ll have a great time for a great cause.
SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.
Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette
