If you’ve driven past the corner of Old Mission Road and Peninsula Drive lately, you know there’s a whole lot of creative artwork going on there. On the buildings, in the pastures, even on the mailboxes, which we’re honoring today with our Photo of the Day.
The person behind that art is Eddie Ligon, who lives on that corner farm with her husband Lenny Ligon. I’ve known them basically my whole life, and I love driving by and seeing them sitting out in the field on a sunny afternoon, watching the dogs run around the pasture.

In between the hard work of running the farm, of course. It’s a great reminder to take time to just sit and watch the world go by, even for a little while.
If you look closely at the mailbox artwork, you’ll see this isn’t just any group of animals. They’re the actual animals and birds who live on the farm.
The Ligon’s farm is a frequent photographic subject here on Old Mission Gazette, as you can see here, here, here and here, to name a few.
Thank you, Eddie, for being so creative and beautifying the neighborhood for all of us to enjoy. Oh, and because I didn’t get a chance to post this guy earlier in the spring when I took the photo… I’m not sure what he is… a burro maybe?
