Today’s Photo of the Day is courtesy of these fun Halloween decorations on Peninsula Drive, across from the Peninsula Township Cemetery. A spooky scarecrow, skeletons, witches and pumpkins along the fence…
I always look forward to seeing what they come up with each year for Halloween and Christmas. This simple sled against the barn is one of my favorite photos of the past few years (they also had a wreath on the barn and lights along their fenceline).

Here’s a couple more photos of their Halloween decorations, with more info about the owners and history of the barn below…

I think the Gormans live here now (if you know or live there, let us know in the comments below), but I’ll always think of it as Louis Kauer’s place. He lived there when I was a kid, and his draft horses were well-known around the Old Mission Peninsula.
He’d bring them down to the horse shows at Bowers Harbor Park (everyone had to be super quiet as they approached, so as not to spook them). And sometimes they’d get loose and wander north to eat the apples in my family’s apple orchard on “The 40.”
Thank you for these awesome Halloween decorations. And I can’t believe it’s October already. This year has flown by.
