Photo of the Day: South Airport Turkeys

If you haven’t spotted the South Airport Turkeys yet, look for them the next time you’re out that way. Today’s Photo of the Day was taken at the corner of South Airport and Garfield. The building in the back of the turkeys is the Burger King there.

It’s not a great shot, but the best I could do out the window as we drove by (note that Tim was driving).

The South Airport Turkeys have gained quite a following since they first made their appearance in that area last year. I first noticed them in the fall, but they might have been around before that, too.

They even have their own Facebook page here. I hope folks keep an eye out for them, so they don’t meet a tragic end. Amazingly, I’ve watched them wait until the light turns red until they crossed the road at the lights.

Ok, sure, it might just be because that’s when the traffic stops, but I like to think they know what they’re doing. At any rate, they’re very entertaining.

  1. I am amazed at those turkeys that they reside in such a busy area and street. I have seen them a few times also. Makes me smile when I see them. I dread when they have little ones in the spring and hope traffic is still as considerate.
