Ali Kozan, a parent and PTO member at Old Mission Peninsula School (OMPS) sent along a note that they are looking for OMP residents to share their knowledge, skills and talents with the classes at the school. She says these would most likely be one-time events, unless you wanted to do more.
“We have so many talented people on the Peninsula, and we’d love for them to share their knowledge and expertise with students,” says Ali. “This would give them an opportunity to do that, and it would also help the students connect with the community, which is one of our big goals as a new charter school.”

Would you be willing to share your personal talents and experiences with students, in order to enhance learning on a particular subject? Do you have a background and/or education in a certain area? Examples include farming, landscaping, accounting, health care, restaurant management, public service, or maybe you’re a writer or author.
Perhaps you have a particular talent or skill about which you’re passionate, like music, a particular musical instrument, environmental protection, yoga, gardening, a particular sport, photography, fly fishing, cooking, baking, sewing, or maybe you’re a history buff.
If you’d like to share your skills and knowledge with students, click over and fill out the Google form here. Everyone is invited to fill it out, and the survey will only be used to create a database for teachers to access when they want to enhance their curriculum.

SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.
Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette
