Books at the Boathouse is coming right up! In fact, it’s this week, and the annual fundraiser for Peninsula Community Library held at The Boathouse Restaurant is sure to delight this year.
The guest speaker will be Amy Reynolds, who owns Horizon Books in Traverse City with her husband Vic Herman. She will talk about the store’s legacy, the future of independent bookstores in the age of Amazon, and maybe even drop a clue or two about the future of the iconic downtown bookstore since announcing their retirement last month. I’ve heard some things through the grapevine, and I’m hopeful that the store will continue into the future one way or another.

The fundraiser will take place at The Boathouse Restaurant, 14039 Peninsula Drive, on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, from 6 to 8 p.m. While there will be no auction this year – after some heavy-duty fundraising for the new library the past few years, they decided they needed a little break! – the evening will feature a fabulous dinner, hors d’oeuvres and wine.
Tickets are $100 (half of which is tax deductible), and are available at Peninsula Community Library. All proceeds help support the library’s collection and programs. The library is located at 2893 Island View Road, on the corner of Center Road and Island View. For more information, give them a call at (231) 223-7700.
