Heading home from my hike the other night, I drove down Brinkman Road, and the view there never fails to amaze me.
I shot this photo looking east near the Tompkins Road intersection. There are almost always deer in this field, and sure enough, a few bounded away into the woods. You almost have to have a big fence around your garden, like the Holmans do, if you want to end up with tomatoes and squash to cook with or sell at your farm stand.

The field has been cleared off and plowed up this summer, so I’m curious what the plan is for it. I will keep you posted. It’s also about the time of year I start seeing Sandhill Cranes here, so I’ll keep an eye out for those, too.
The trees here will get more colorful in the coming weeks, but with that stunning sky, dreamy field and bright red pole barn, it’s perfect for today’s Photo of the Day.
