Trick or treating on Halloween? Why, yes. We can make that work.

Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church is planning their annual “Trunk or Treat” event this year – “trunk,” as in they will be handing out treats from the trunks of their cars in the church parking lot.

Old Mission Gazette is Reader Supported.

The event will take place on Halloween – Saturday, October 31, 2 – 4 p.m. – in the church parking lot, 16426 Center Road (at the top of the hill on the right before you head down the hill north to Old Mission Tavern).

Covid-19 protocols will be in place. Follow the signs. Everyone handing out candy will be wearing a mask and a new pair of rubber gloves (if you don’t have a pair of NEW rubber gloves, the church will have new plastic kitchen-type gloves available). Kids will not be allowed to pick up their treats; instead, the treats will be placed into their bags.

If you would like to help hand out treats, show up in the church parking lot 15 minutes early at 1:45 p.m. Note that all treats you bring must be pre-packaged, or in other words, the same way as you buy them from the store (small bags of goldfish crackers, wrapped candy bars, etc.)

In the event of severe weather, this outdoor event will be canceled.

All are welcome!

SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.

Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette
