Today’s Photo of the Day – woo hoo, two days in a row! – features Guinness, the Golden Retriever and Pawesome Christmas Dog.
Here’s the backstory. This photo was actually taken almost exactly one year ago – at a neighborhood gathering at the gorgeous home of our neighbors, Pat and Deb. That was back when we could have neighborhood gatherings. Oh, how I miss them.

Anyway, always thinking ahead (ha ha), I took the photo of Guinness – because, how could I NOT take a photo of that handsome dog in front of Pat and Deb’s festive Christmas tree? – anticipating that I would use it in this year’s “Dogs of Old Mission Peninsula 2021 Calendar.”
Well, the calendar just didn’t happen this year – even though I started planning it exactly ONE YEAR AGO. One of the reasons is that I just didn’t get it together. That’s always one of the reasons when things don’t get done around here.
Another reason is that it takes a fair bit of time to take the photos (throughout the year, as I come across OMP dogs here and there), gather and edit the best photos, create the calendars, and list them in the store to sell.
A third reason is that the calendars have a very short shelf life. By the time I do all of the above, the calendars really only sell for a few weeks (and are mainly purchased by the calendar dogs’ humans), and then they’re done and I’ve got, like, a thousand hours into it.
However, I do have some ideas about other ways I can showcase your beautiful dogs in cool things that have an “evergreen” shelf life, so stand by for that. Better yet, pull up a chair, because knowing me, it may take a year or two, and that’s a long time to stand around waiting for me and my ideas that I think will take a few hours and end up taking months, possibly years.
So anyway, Guinness – whose humans, by the way, are lovely neighbors Craig and Laurie Wilson – is such a cool dog and posed so beautifully for me that I just had to share him with all of you.
Happy Holidays from me and Guinness! A few more photos from that fun night to get you in the holiday spirit. By the way, it took me 45 photos to get the five good ones in this story. 🙂
