Today’s Photo of the Day is courtesy of a young Bald Eagle on a tree branch outside our window here on Bluff Road.
They seem to like this particular branch, for some reason. Maybe it gives them a good view of everything in every direction. Lots of dinner options.

I wonder if this young eagle is related to this full-grown eagle that flew past this same window in February carrying some poor deceased bird to parts unknown. Wouldn’t that be something if the thing he was carrying was food for this young eagle?
Then again, a bit of googling reveals that this young eagle is probably older than that, maybe a year or two? I should know this, after taking pictures of eagles on the Old Mission Peninsula for years now. If you know, tell us in the comments section below.
I’ve seen other eagle nests around the Old Mission Peninsula, but haven’t seen any nearby, so I have no idea where they nest in the Bluff Road neighborhood. Probably somewhere in the woods between here and Center Road.
A couple more photos. Not gonna lie – when he turned to look at me, it freaked me out just a tiny bit.
[…] eagle, but someone can tell me if that’s right. I don’t know if this is the same eagle I posted back in April. […]
