Today’s Photo of the Day is courtesy of a baby fox in my mom’s driveway in Old Mission. There have been years where this fox den has been home to a LOT of kits – this photo from 2018 featured six of them, but that year, we spotted about a dozen babies altogether.
A couple more photos of this cute guy below. We just saw the one kit…

And remember that photo I posted last week of the baby fox on the north end of Smokey Hollow Road? Well, Susan Merner, who lives in the area, sent along a great video of that fox den, which I’ve uploaded to our Old Mission Gazette YouTube channel and am posting below. These two dens are about a half-mile apart, as the crow flies.
From Susan:
“I have been watching the Fox den for a couple of seasons. The den was created when Covid began and things were unusually quiet. Last year there were three kits, but this year only two. We call the smaller kit ‘Nibbles.’ Sharing some footage of Nibbles for your lovely digital magazine Old Mission Gazette.”
Thank you so much, Susan! What a great video, and the music is perfect for that little guy.
