Proceeds from Friends’ Book Sales support library programs such as the activity bags so popular with library patrons young and old. The Friends asks that you consider bringing all your donations during August, prior to this sale, as the group will have limited availability to accept and sort books as the weather gets colder.
Place your books and items in small- and medium-sized boxes, organized with the spine side up, as this helps with sorting. Volunteers will be there to assist in getting the books and other materials unloaded from your trunk or hatch area and into the Carriage House next to the library.
During regular library hours, one box per visit will be accepted by library staff at the Circulation Desk. Summer hours are:
- Monday and Thursday: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Note that these items cannot be accepted:
- Reader’s Digest condensed books
- Encyclopedias
- Magazines (even National Geographic)
- VHS tapes
- Bibles and other religious texts
- Textbooks
- Outdated technology manuals
- Outdated medical information
- Items that are dirty, moldy, water damaged or with excessive markings or highlighting

SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.
Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette
