Remember that pic of the Snowy Owl from a couple weeks ago? Here it is – the one I spotted on the top of Harbor View Lavender Farm‘s barn on my way home from hiking at the north end. The pics weren’t great because I didn’t have my long lens with me. That was on March 7, and my first sighting all winter.
Well, I spotted that same owl on that same barn roof – once again, on my way home from hiking at the north end (they say nature heals and I love to hike, so I’m going with that). Not only did I not have my long lens with me again, but this time I didn’t even have my good camera with me. We’ll blame it on grief-brain. That seems as good an excuse as any.

Anyway, knowing that owls tend to hang out in the same spot for a while, I drove home, got my camera and drove back. Sure enough, that owl was still there on the barn roof. This was on March 12. With the warmer weather we’ve had the past week, I’m guessing he’s probably headed north by now.
Here are a few pics from that day. Still not spectacular because I try to keep my distance so as not to disturb them. But better than the first sighting. Check out the size of his foot on the second pic below.
