The 11th Annual “Patriotic Walk Around the Block” is happening in the village of Old Mission on the actual 4th of July this year.
Note that it’s not officially a “parade” due to local rules and regulations. Rest assured, though, it’s very parade-like. It’s also an old-fashioned community event, and I guarantee you’ll love every minute of it.

Here’s a pic from last year…

The “Patriotic Walk Around the Block” begins at 12 noon at Old Mission Legion Post 399, 4001 Swaney Road, in the village of Old Mission. It will go from there to Swaney Road, then to Bay Street (across from Haserot Beach), around Woodland Road to Traverse Street, ending back at the Legion Hall.
As the “Walk” ends back at the Legion Hall, there will be a short ceremony, including a pledge and a song, along with cookies and lemonade. If it’s pouring down rain, the ceremony will be inside the Legion Hall.
If you’d like to walk or drive your vehicle (adorned with patriotic decorations, of course), line up on Grand Street (off Traverse Street, just down from the Legion Hall) no later than 11:45 a.m.
There will be people and pets walking, kids on bikes, old trucks and cars, and probably even a fire truck and/or deputy’s car. I’ll be there taking pictures, so be sure and join in the patriotic fun on the 4th of July!

Thank you, Jane for writing/publishing this article. I intended to call you and provide details but found that i no longer had your #. I figured, as an experienced journalist, however, you would sniff it out and write exactly what you did. Thanks again
